Four districts, one vertical city
Nivalis is a city on the sea that builds upward, and official materials consistently say it is split across four districts. The studio has published dedicated looks at most of them through Steam news posts.
The districts so far
- Meridian Market: the central commercial district, and the reported starting area where you inherit the noodle stand.
- Seaside Boardwalk: the waterfront strip: ocean breeze, restaurants, crowded streets, and hidden alleys.
- Skyhigh Gardens: an Eastern-inspired district above the cloud line, with hanging gardens, wooden bridges, and Japanese restaurants.
- Calypso Island: a warmer, upscale district close to the sky, where the port character Salt Pete operates.
One honest caveat about the map
ION LANDS has said the city is not a fully open world in the GTA sense: some areas are background scenery rather than explorable spaces. So "four districts" describes the playable layout, not every rooftop in the skyline.
The tourist map
On September 11 the studio published a brochure-style “Tourist Map” covering the city’s key areas and activities. It is the closest thing to an official map published before release, and it frames the city as a place that stretches from the ocean to the sky.
That phrasing matters for how the four districts fit together: they are not four separate settlements but one vertical city, from the docks at the bottom to the elevated gardens above. Travel between them is part of the design, which is why the game has four separate transport modes.
What each district is for
- Meridian Market — the commercial heart and where your noodle bar starts.
- Calypso Island — the upscale residential corner, with property and boats.
- Seaside Boardwalk — the waterfront, docks and leisure strip.
- Skyhigh Gardens — the upper levels, gardens and views over the city.
The studio has said there is more to discover than the brochure shows, so treat these four as the confirmed top level rather than the whole map.
